The Old Testament & the Doctrine of Discovery

This workshop engages the intersection of the OT and the Doctrine of Discovery, the focus of Edwin’s Master’s thesis at Luther Seminary. It will focus on the work of Steven T. Newcomb in his book Pagans in the Promised Land, particularly where it deals with OT underpinnings of Discovery. Edwin will also explore relevant biblical representations of Canaanites as symbols of chaos. The workshop will conclude with a group discussion.
